Meet Aubrey Redd, Founder of Aubrey Redd Nutrition, whose personal journey with nutrition inspired her to build a business centered on helping others improve their health and well-being.

Aubrey Redd Nutrition provides personalized nutrition counseling to help women navigate their individual health needs and build a healthier relationship with food. As a registered dietitian, Aubrey supports women through various stages of life, including hormonal health concerns, fertility, pregnancy, perimenopause, and menopause. Her approach focuses on helping clients find sustainable nutrition strategies that work for their unique needs and goals.

From Personal Passion to Professional Purpose

Aubrey’s passion for nutrition began in high school when she decided to become a vegetarian. After her tennis coach questioned how she would get enough protein, she began researching nutrition and discovered a field that would ultimately shape her career.

She went on to complete her bachelor's and master's degrees, a year-long internship, and board exams to become a registered dietitian. Along the way, she recognized that private practice was the right path for her. As a woman of color, she was also drawn to the opportunity to build her own business.

As Aubrey explained, “I think right away I knew that private practice was something that was interesting to me, and especially, I think as a woman of color, business ownership felt like something really enticing as well.”

Finding Empowerment Through Representation

Aubrey describes her experience as a woman in business as empowering. Working in a field where women make up the vast majority of dietitians, she has found a strong sense of community among fellow women professionals and entrepreneurs.

Representation also plays an important role in her work with clients. Aubrey shared that many patients appreciate working with someone who may understand their cultural backgrounds, food traditions, and personal preferences. For her, these connections reinforce the importance of helping clients feel understood and supported throughout their nutrition journeys.

Reflecting on her experience, Aubrey shared, “It's been very empowering, and I've gotten so much positivity as a woman in business.”

Advocating for Women in Business and Healthcare

While nutrition is a predominantly female field, Aubrey notes that entrepreneurship can present a different set of challenges. One of the biggest has been continually advocating for herself and ensuring her voice is heard.

This is especially important in healthcare, where she works to ensure her patients receive the testing, prescriptions, and support they need. Many of her clients are navigating fertility, pregnancy, perimenopause, and menopause, and she often hears about women feeling overlooked or unheard when discussing their health concerns.

Aubrey believes women's health must be prioritized, both in medical settings and beyond. Her experiences have strengthened her commitment to advocating for women and ensuring their concerns are taken seriously.

The Power of Mentorship and Networking

Aubrey credits her professors at West Chester University as some of her most influential mentors. Their continued guidance and willingness to share connections have played an important role in her professional growth.

She emphasizes that networking has been one of the most valuable parts of her career, allowing her to reconnect with former professors, seek advice, and build relationships that support her business. She has also found community through Diversify Dietetics, an organization that connects dietitians of color.

Reflecting on the support she has received, Aubrey explained, “Being able to reconnect with some of my old college professors, ask them for advice, and they're sharing their connections as well too to support me in my growth, I think that's one thing I've never lacked really is support throughout all of it, whether it's from mentors that I've worked with from a college perspective.”

Her experience highlights how meaningful professional relationships can open doors, create opportunities, and help women grow in their careers.

Aubrey’s Advice for Aspiring Female Leaders

Aubrey’s advice for women interested in business or entrepreneurship is simple: take the leap, even when you don’t feel completely ready. After completing her education and internship, she attended a conference featuring nutrition entrepreneurs, where she heard a message that shaped her approach to business ownership.

As Aubrey recalled, “You're never going to feel 100% ready to do anything, so you should kind of rip the band-aid, get started, and then find those mentors along the way.”

She encourages aspiring female leaders not to let uncertainty hold them back. Instead, take the first step, seek guidance from mentors, and ask for help when needed. Her journey is a reminder that you don’t have to have everything figured out before pursuing your goals.
